The Quality Teaching Model is used to guide the teaching practice we use to enable the students to learn in the most effective and enjoyable way. It has three dimensions:
  • Intellectual Quality,
  • Quality Learning Environments and
  • Significance.
Under intellectual quality we focus on teaching practice that produces deep understanding of important, substantive concepts, skills and ideas. This concentrates on treating knowledge as something that requires active construction and requires students to engage in higher order thinking and to communicate substantively about what they are learning.
We create quality learning environments by setting high and explicit expectations for learning and develop positive relationships between the teachers and the students so that the students can realize their learning potential.
The units of inquiry concentrate on significant content that recognises the student’s cultural perspectives, their prior knowledge and identities, with contexts outside the classroom and the fact that there are a number of perspectives on each issue.
